The House Appropriations Committee today released their draft fiscal year 2017 Labor, Health and Human Services (LHHS) funding bill, which will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow.
Here is a link to the bill text, and a press release issued by the House Appropriations Committee.
The bill text doesn’t break out adult education grants from the total appropriation to Career, Technical, and Adult Education, although it does reserve $13,712 million for adult education national leadership —the same as last year. Since the overall appropriation for Career, Technical, and Adult Education is exactly the same as FY 2016, and since we know national leadership is funded the same amount as last year, it would appear likely that adult education state grants are also going to be flat-funded at the FY 2016 level ($581,955 million). But that is just preliminary speculation — we’ll find out if that is the case tomorrow, if not sooner.
